Codesprint 11

CodeSprint 11 was the 11th edition of Sri Lanka's premier inter-university startup competition, organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT). Designed to empower young innovators to transform their raw ideas into launch-ready ventures, the competition challenged student teams of 3 to 6 members across three main tracks: Platforms, Intelligence, and Hardware & Security. The event provided a massive platform with a 1 million+ prize pool, drawing participants from numerous universities to engineer tech-driven solutions and pitch them to real investors.

The competition progressed through a rigorous timeline from February to July 2026, advancing through the Envision, Execution, and Elevation phases before reaching the Technical Pitch and the Grand Finale. Throughout these stages, organizers hosted multiple knowledge-sharing workshops to help participants refine their prototypes and business strategies. Notable sessions included an Execution Phase workshop in May 2026 exploring how startups can leverage AI-powered software engineering, and Elevation Phase workshops in June 2026 that covered topics like integrating Ideamart APIs and mastering intrapreneurship to build fundable startups.

The extensive journey concluded with a high-stakes Grand Finale held on July 11, 2026, at the DHPL Auditorium in Colombo. The top finalist teams presented their finalized startup solutions before a distinguished panel of industry judges. Team HydroTech from the University of Kelaniya emerged as the overall Champions. Team Hades from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University secured the First Runner-Up position and also won the Most Innovative Integration Award for their exceptional use of Ideamart APIs and OmniAI. Meanwhile, Team ChloroCast from the Informatics Institute of Technology claimed the Second Runner-Up spot, capping off a highly successful season of fostering technology-driven entrepreneurship.
