About This Event
The IEEE Student Branch of the Informatics Institute of Technology celebrated the 16th edition of IEEE Day on October 4, 2025. The event took place at the IIT City Campus under the global theme of innovating for a sustainable future. It brought together students, professionals, and members to celebrate technology, networking, and the broader impact of technological innovation.
The day began at 8:30 AM with registration and team allocation, followed by a welcome speech and a formal introduction to the student branch and its activities. A major highlight of the morning was the keynote address delivered by Sanuda Kannangara, the IEEE SB Chairperson for the 23/24 term. He shared his personal experiences and insights on leadership, innovation, and how being part of IEEE can positively influence a student's professional journey.
After an engaging question and answer session, the organizers shifted to interactive ice-breaker activities, which included a high-energy Kahoot quiz designed to build team spirit and friendly competition. Participants were then given brief introductions to the various IEEE technical societies active at IIT, such as the Computer Society, Robotics and Automation Society, Women in Engineering, Computational Intelligence Society, and the Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.
The celebration concluded with a special teaser for the upcoming IEEEXtreme programming challenges, giving students a sneak peek at what was to come, followed by a group photo to capture the collaborative energy of the event.
