MicroMaze 3.0

MicroMaze 3.0 was an autonomous robotics competition organized by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society of the Informatics Institute of Technology in 2026. The event challenged students to build and program maze-solving robots, commonly known as micro mice, capable of decoding and navigating complex tracks without any human assistance or prior knowledge of the maze's size, layout, or obstacles.

Participants had to rely heavily on advanced sensor technology and intelligent navigation algorithms, as their robots needed to evaluate the paths and find the exit as quickly and efficiently as possible. The competition was designed to push boundaries in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence, rewarding teams that demonstrated speed, efficiency, and innovative engineering solutions.

The 2026 campaign started with an ambassador recruitment drive in early June to build momentum across universities. The competition phase officially kicked off with a dedicated race week in early September, which allowed teams to refine their code during free practice sessions and a preliminary qualifier round. The journey culminated on September 20, 2026, with the MicroMaze 3.0 Finals held at the IIT GP Square, where the top qualifying teams competed in a high-stakes race against the clock to determine the ultimate champion.
