ModelX

ModelX was an inter-university machine learning and artificial intelligence hackathon organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) in late 2025. The initiative was designed to challenge students to build practical, data-driven AI solutions and software models while competing against teams from various universities.

To help participants prepare for the main hackathon, the organizers hosted a series of knowledge-sharing workshops. A notable highlight was Workshop 01, which featured an insightful session led by Ishara Neranjana, a Machine Learning Engineer from the tech company Zone24x7. During this session, students learned the "Essential Steps of Preparing High-Quality Data for Machine Learning," giving them practical industry insights into how data is processed and optimized for real-world AI applications.

The event successfully brought together tech enthusiasts, developers, and aspiring ML engineers, allowing them to collaborate, refine their software engineering skills, and showcase their final AI projects during the competitive hackathon phase.
